Kavala Beaches
Kavala has one of the longest beaches, with fine sand and clear water. Many travelers say that is one of the most beautiful beaches in Northern Greece. There are many beach bars, fully organized with sun umbrellas and chairs and many other things that any visitor needs.
Municipality of Kavala
It was built by the Hungarian tobacco-trader Pierre Herzog and it is a miniature of a Hungarian castle. One of the most impressive buildings of the city and architecturally “foreign” to any other structures. It houses the municipality of Kavala since 1937.
Kamares, the Medieval Aqueduct
Kamares, the Medieval Aqueduct, is a work of the Byzantine period. It was used to transport water from the sources of the mountainous volumes (six kilometers north) to the present “Old Town” of Panagia, with the main source of water at an altitude of 400 meters, while other springs lower the supply. This majestic monument, 280 meters long, consists of 60 arches of four different sizes and has a maximum height of 25 meters.

Imaret
Imaret, a large complex of the last Ottoman period, a classic example of Islamic architecture, is located on the western side of the Panagia peninsula (old city). It is one of the last ones built during this period and the only one that was almost entirely saved. It was built, for the most part, between 1817-1821 by the founder of the last Egyptian dynasty, Mehmet Ali.
The castle of Kavala
The castle of Kavala dominates the top of the peninsula where the old city is built. The castle (acropolis) in its present form was built in the first quarter of the 15th century, based on the founding of the Byzantine period. In the open-air theater, cultural events are organized.
Baptistery of Lydia
Apostle Paul walked on the ancient Egnatia Road that survived until today and crossed the 12 kilometers to the city of Philippi, where he founded the first Church of Europe and baptized the first European Christian, the pious Lydia. He was accompanied by the Evangelist Luke, the Apostle Timothy and Saint Silas.
